Sara Bareilles is joining the cast of the Broadway show Waitress tonight (March 31) and to prepare for her debut, she went into the center of Times Square to sing one of the songs from the show!
The Grammy and Tony-nominated singer-songwriter performed the song “What Baking Can Do” and it was the first time she sang the song in public.
“It felt in the spirit of the show,” Sara told Vulture about performing in Times Square. “It’s a chamber piece. It’s an everyday story. I wanted to feel like we were jumping out into the middle of everything and doing it from the inside out.”
Sara wrote the music for the Broadway show and recorded the songs for an album released in 2015, but this song was added to the show after her album was made.
You only have 10 weeks to catch Sara in her Broadway debut, so make sure to get your tickets now!
